The Digital Edge Project

This project seems like an awesome idea! Way to go for those teachers to incorperate technology into their classroom in a productive way. The student's parents must be really proud of them to learn how to use computers to create presentations. I don't know if I would ever be able to use technology like these nationally certified teachers have used. I don't even feel comfortable using a computer myself, let alone teaching my students how to use programs to create presentations. The Digital Edge Project is a great idea, just not the best one for me.

  1. Mia, I understand the frustration of trying to teach something that we, ourselves, struggle with. However, I believe fully that you will be able to incorporate certain technology into your classroom with ease. For instance, the usage of powerpoint would be instrumentally important for students. A good example of an easy piece of technology that I read about was visual literacy. This technology was used by having students pick out politically comic strips and try to determine the underlying themes, messegesm agendas, and symbolism. All of that learning can be taught through one cut out from a newspaper! Technology can be very easy to use. The trick is being able to find the tech that doesn't need too much effort.

  2. Hey! Don't count yourself out! You could always learn one step at a time. If you found some type of technological aspect that you really think would be beneficial to a lesson, you could learn how to do it, master it, and then teach it. Then you at least have that one thing you could do. Then keep adding in the skills. Learn to do another thing later. You will also have other people that I am sure would be willing to help you, so that you can help your students. You are smart, you can figure it out! :)

  3. Don't give up hope, you can do more with technology than you think you can. Just keep an open mind and don't be afraid to ask for help from your peers. :)
